An oasis of brilliance in Arizona’s desert full of crazy
Arizona takes the lead with a smart new public policy idea Arizona has not—repeat, has not—gone crazy. Not entirely anyway. Sure, Arizona still takes the prize for nuttiest state in this great nation. From deciding to let transplant recipients die, … Continue reading
The "danged fence" is a big lie
Anyone who tells you the solution to illegal migration is more border enforcement is either a darn fool or a damned liar. In this election season, politicians are seemingly apoplectic about illegal immigration. People from south of us don’t come here for our way of life or to plop out progeny. They come here for the cash. There is a ready supply of jobs for anyone who’ll work under the table and live under the radar. Continue reading

In Tucson, Arizona’s SB1070 Not So Popular
“We call them Maricopa Morons,” said Charlie about the conservative county to the north, as he sat on a bench on 4th Avenue, smoking away a Saturday afternoon.

Race Discrimination – Mighty White of You!
It’s fair to say that white Americans have a mostly dismal record on racial equality. This is not an opinion – it’s a fact of history. You can check. Despite that, over the last century significant progress has been made, by the minority pushing the majority into acceptance. Eventually, white people will be goaded, pushed and economically punished into acceptance of brown Americans. Outside of crazy Texas, after all, when’s the last time you heard the term “wetback.”… Continue reading
SB1070 – The Joe Arpaio Racial Profiling Protection Act
Let’s cut through the clutter surrounding Arizona’s new law — it is intended to end lawsuits by victims of racial profiling. It is specifically crafted to shield the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office and its self-promoting Sheriff Joe Arpaio. This department has been sued over 2,700 times since 2004… Continue reading
